In the midnight garden enchanting plants,
leafs and vines crawling slithering up all the stands.
Silent steps you take through the glass house of flowers,
with the nighting chime of the 2nd hour.
in the corner, you spy two dolls,
and an angry little girl standing 4 feet tall.

The Story

People tend to drive themselves into a rage or into madness. Sometimes it's a good way to vent, other times the anger may become so over bearing that it may consume you and blind your judgement.

This is the story of little Annie Chen. A young girl who was born and raised out in the country side along with her uncle, father, and mother. Annie was always the center of everyones attention around her family's close knit friends. Her father owned a few restruants around the area, and they were the best in the county. People always flocked over to see and eat at these restruants, and the tie between the restruanteur and the customers was a very close one. Every weekend night when the restruants filled with people, Annie's parents brought her with them and let her run free amongst the crowds. For a three year old, she seemed to be one of the happiest little girls in the town. People always commented her about how adorable she was, how she would grow up to be someone famous and all the other illusions a normal person would cast to a child. Annie felt the warmth and attention from every direction she stood in and she loved it. After the restruant closed for the evening, Annie's mother and father brought her home to a large house out in the middle of the countryside where it was all surrounded with cornfields and ranchs. It was a large white house with a large green house sticking out the corner by the garage. Late at night little Annie would go into the green house skipping and singing in enjoyment.

One night it was raining really hard and Annie's father and mother left her home alone with her uncle. While the uncle dozed off, Annie stayed in the green house playing with her dolls. Suddenly the lights in the entire house go out after a huge crash of thunder. Annie became alarmed and hid away in a small bush with her dolls crying. Then a small tear came through the clouds and the moon gave light to the green house where Annie was. In the moonlit darkness, a figure loomed in Annie's view. It was a person completely cloaked from her head to toe, and she was carrying a huge scythe with her. In a sweet and gentle voice, the person in the cloak said to her "Annie, don't be afraid, i've given you some light so you can play safely in the dark." With that the cloaked person left leaving a black rose upon the floor by where Annie was hiding. Annie stepped out of the darkness and walked over to pick up the rose only to be pricked by one of the thorns. Annie quickly fluttered her finger sprinkleing little splatters of blood all over the place. She then went to pick up her two dolls and went back into the house. She went to her uncle and showed him the small wound on her finger. Her uncle took her into the bathroom to wash the wound and her two dolls that had small stains of her blood on it. Annie then goes and explains that she had seen a large cloaked person talking to her in the Green house, and that she seperated the clouds for her so she could play safely upon the darkness. Annie's uncle looked at her strangely and then told her it was all her imagination. Annie was confused, if such an illusion was so real, why was it that "it" had left a rose for her that could prick and make her bleed. When Annie's parents came home, she quickly ran over to tell them her story. They both laughed and patted her on the head saying "it's ok honey, theres no cloaked person in our greenhouse, it was probably a very scary shadow." In a small manner, Annie was outraged so she decided to go back to her room with her two dolls. She sat there crying to herself wondering why her family wouldn't believe her. Then suddenly she hears a raggity voice from behind her saying "theres another". She quickly turns around only to find nothing but her two dolls. Annie grabbed both of the dolls and brought them closer to her. As she held onto her dolls closely, a spark of fright crossed her body. She noticed that as she held onto the dolls tighter, the dolls seemed as if they were hugging her back. She quickly threw the dolls off to a corner of her room. Annie scurried up and ran out of her room and into her parents room. She explained to her parents what she had saw and heard and the parents just laughed at her and told her to return to her room. Annie paced herself back towards her room with a bit of aggrevasion in her blood. She questioned why her parents wouldn't believe a word she said and then plopped herself down by the doorway of her room. She dug her face into her arms and began weeping in the darkness. Her anger began to build up withen her but she had no way of excerting it out. Annie suddenly felt a hand being placed on her shoulder from behind her. She slowly lifted her head up only to find one of her dolls sitting down in front of her. She tried to push herself back only to find another force behind her pushing her forward. She her head around only to find herself face to face with her other doll. She screamed and hit the doll in the face and grabbed it by the hands and threw it at the other doll. She quickly ran to the kitchen and back to her room wielding a knife. She ran at the dolls screaming at the top of her lungs and took a few mighty swings, slashing off the hands of the dolls. The screaming echoed deep through the night and Annie parents ran over to the room. The mother slapped Annie in the back of her head and the father followed with a slap against Annie's face. The knife slipped out of Annie's hand and found itself plungeing into the wood work. "What the hell has gotten into you?" screamed her mother. Annie began to cry and told them that the dolls were after her. Her parents did not believe her and told her that if she'd make anymore disruptions in the house about strange seeings that they would send her off. As Annie's parents left the room and closed the door behind them she noticed that the dolls were standing behind the door. Annie Approached the two dolls and grabbed them by the throat. "What is it that you two want!?" there was a long pause of silence in the air as Annie stood there with tears and anger in her eyes. She glared away into the empty eyes of the dolls. Annie grabbed onto the knife that had lodged into the floor and ripped it out. She held the knife up to the two dolls head and said. "If you don't speak again, i'll be sure to shred you up into little pieces!" right then, the mouth of the girl doll began to move slowly and in an eerie streaming voice she replied "I'm sorry young Annie, but we are only here to protect you." The two dolls told Annie that they were sent by an Angel here to protect her from her parents. Annie didn't quite understand why there were any reasons why she needed protection from her parents. The two dolls then told Annie that there'll be "another" and things would change around her. Annie didn't have anywhere to turn at that point espcially since it seemed as if no one trusted her. She felt a little bit abandoned by the three memebers of her family. Her uncle, her father, her mother. Annie took heart to the dolls and placed the knife underneath her bed.

Months went by, and a new surprise came to be in the family. Annie's mother had given birth to another child. A new baby girl by the name of Connie. Annie's parents immediatly took all the attention they gave to Annie and brought it fourth to Connie. Day in and day out it was always Connie, Connie, Connie. Annie began to slowly see what the two dolls were talking about being there "Another". Annie would go to her parents asking for something to drink or something to eat, and her parents would simply just ignore her. Her fury of anger grew more and more intense as each night went by.

One night as Annie was playing in the garden that she ever so much loved, she over heard in the next room something her father and uncle were discussing. The two were talking about making a surprise for Annie's mother and Connie by taking down the green house and making that whole space into Connie's room. Annie stormed her way into the conversation telling the both of them that they can't take away the greenhouse from her. The uncle then kneeled down to Annie's eye level and told her that it wasn't her descision, that it was all for the new born child. The anger was begining to let loose and Annie sent her fist upon her uncles face. Annie's uncle fell backwards and sat onto the floor. Annie's father demanded that she return and stay in her room. A new fire was begining to burn in Annie's eyes, a fire that consumed all senses of thoughts. A madness that had stirred in her mind was finally taking it's toll.

That very same night Annie took with her the two dolls and the knife that she hid under her bed and placed them all in the garden. She left them there and walked back into the house for a moment of time. The two dolls sat there looking back at the doorway only to find Annie in return with the Infant Connie who was sound asleep. She laid the baby down on the floor next to the one of the dolls and brought one of the boy doll with her. She brought the doll into a tool shed where she took the edge of an axe and had it replaced one of the hands that she had cut off a while ago. She then took the doll over to her parents room and explained to him what had to be done. Annie sat in the corner and watched as the little doll jump up ontop of the bed and begun hacking away at the mother and father simoutanously. When the father raised his hand up to reach for the doll, he would swing his axe and send it flying off in the room. Even when they tried to scream, the little doll would hack away at there throats , mouths, everything that moved. It was like a blended that had landed ontop of two fishes trapped on a bed. The little doll swung left and right making all sorts of pieces fly everywhere in the room. Annie stood there watching in excitement and anger as the blood flew against the walls. After a certain when there was practiclly nothing else to shred apart. Suddenly a small creaking noise came by the door and Annie quickly turned around. Her uncle had been watching the whole thing from a crack by the door. When he caught Annie's eyes looking at his, he immediatly ran down the hall. The doll leapt off the bed and right besides Annie. He was ready to make a dash out the door when Annie held her hand out in front of him and told him to stay his grounds.

Annie walked with the little boy doll back to the greenhouse where the met with the girl doll and Connie. Annie took hold of the knife and placed it right by Connie's head. She then sent a mighty thrust and a loud "Crunch" noise could be heard. Annie had sent the knife right through the infants head and it tore out through the other side. Annie then twisted the knife at a ninety degree angle and pulled it towards her tearing an even larger hold into the infants head. Annie then took the infants carcass and dragged it out with her to the corn fields outside of her house. Her and the two dolls walked deep into the fields and then at the center found a place to leave the body. When they placed the infants body on the ground, it seemed as if there was a mini earthquake. There was a loud sound , but none of the three could really tell where it was coming espcially since they were all really short. Suddenly a huge beam of light cut through the cornstalks and a large tractor was plowing through the direction they were standing in. The three of them began to run, but the tractor got the best of them. It plowed over Annie and the dolls sending the three of them into the grinder causing the whole thing to break down as Annie's body jammed the gears. From the top of the tractor, the door flung open and out stepped Annie's uncle.

Annie comes back to the world mad as ever, given the new name "Angst". The Two dolls haven't left Angst's side either. They return with a more morbid look. The boy with a hand of an axe, and the girl with the hand of the knife Angst used to take the life of her baby sister. They were both rightfully given the name "The Manglers" Angst has no real mission, she's just an angry girl that lays in greenhouses and gardens in wait for the next person to cross her. Angst was stepped over one too many times.
